| Photo directing a
food shoot can be fun...and difficult. It's great working with a
food stylist who prepares the food for the shot. Those grill
lines across those cuts of meat aren't from the grill...they are
actually added to the meat by dragging a wood burning tool (like the
kind you had as a kid) across the meat one stripe at a
time. Then you ruin the meat by spraying glycerin on it to give
it that juicy look. Timing of food shoots is critical because
the food sits under strong lighting and it needs to be shot
expeditiously before meats dry out, and vegetables, fruits and lettuce
begin to wilt.
